As i’m sure you know, the N64 has quite a few gems in it’s lineup. Lucas Arts created a gem when they made Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire. This game came out about 4 months after the release of the N64, and it came out to rave reviews. Although considered a “simple” 3D game by today’s standards, SOTE combined many elements of various gameplay styles to create a well-rounded game.

Shadows of the Empire is a hybrid flying/3rd person shooter game. The flying levels were so popular, Lucas Arts created the Star Wars:Rogue Squadron games. You play a total of ten levels broken up into 4 parts.

The Levels

Part 1: Battle of Hoth

Shadows of the Empire’s starts off with a bang. You are Dash Rendar and your first few missions put you in the seat of a snowspeeder! The game gradually warms you up by giving you increasingly difficult objects to overcome  in each stage from destroying Imperial Probe droids and finally culminating to dropping AT-ST with your laser cannons and tripping AT-AT’s with your harpoon cable.
